About the Artist:

Beth McCubbin has been working in the arts for over thirty years. In her various roles, she has assembled an invaluable collection of experience. As a practicing ceramic and mixed media artist throughout this career, sculpture remains the cornerstone of her work.

Highlights from Beth’s exhibition experience include installations at the Art Gallery of Peterborough, Artspace Peterborough, Gallerie La Fab in Chelsea, Gallerie Linart in Cantley and the Municipal Art Gallery of Mississippi Mills. She also maintains a consistent presence in solo and group exhibitions.

Teaching is an important part of Beth’s professional development. She has taught clay and mixed media workshops within a number of organizations, including: The School for Young Mothers (Peterborough), the Mohawk Reserve on Rice Lake, Miinwaashin Lodge (Ottawa) and the Violence Against Women Coalition (Ottawa). For her work in art education, she has received grants from the Ottawa Arts Council and the Ontario Arts Council.

After completing a degree in Art Conservation in 2006, Beth has worked part-time as an Objects Conservator both freelance and on contract for the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Peterborough, and many private collectors. A notable influence throughout her career path is Beth’s work experience; doing programming for artist-run centres, as a gallery curator, a graphic designer and photographer. Most influential to her artistic career was working for years in theatre as a front-of-house, stage manager and set designer.

Beth lives in the Outaouais Region, moving back and forth from Ontario to Quebec across the Ottawa River. Her passion for her home province and French and Quebec culture make frequent visits a must.
