The Move 2015
March 24th, 2015
Improvements coming our way!
Our facility on Crescent Street has served us well but it has aged and needs some improvement in order for us to maintain our professional standards and better serve our community. The work planned for spring 2015 will help take us to the point of having a new facility as described in our feasibility study and the upgrades being planned can be utilized in the new build.
Planned facility upgrades:
We have replaced our original boilers with a new state of the art HVAC system. This allows us to maintain the environmental standards required by a collecting institution. Both the staff and permanent collection had to move offsite for the duration.
Vault reorganization: Sometimes a challenge offers an opportunity. The need to empty the vault of artworks was a unique chance to reorganize and improve the storage of our Permanent Collection. Each work has been documented with a condition report, wrapped and shipped to fine art storage. We are taking advantage of an empty vault to improve our storage units and work areas, making better use of the space with new art storage systems that are now available.
Return to Crescent Street:
Sunday July 19 will be our last day at 420 George Street North. This is the final day to see Odd One Out by Roula Partheniou.
The AGP will be closed to the public from July 20 to August 7 while we are preparing for the reopening of our Crescent Street location. Our contact information remains the same.
On Saturday, August 8 we reopen to the public at 250 Crescent Street, with an exhibition for the Kawartha Autumn Studio Tour and the Gallery Shop.
We don’t return to our full gallery exhibitions until September. Until that time, you can observe the Permanent Collection returning to the Gallery throughout August. Join us for vault tours, Friday afternoons at 3:00, and watch the final phase of the Collection move in action.
