July 10 to 14
Oh! Canada with Cheri Patrick

Ages 4 to 7: 9 am – 12 noon
Ages 8 to 11: 1 pm – 4 pm
$90 per week

What is Canada to you? Get inspired by Of Moose and Monarchs featuring iconic Canadian artist Charles Pachter. Check out Jeff Macklin’s exhibition and think about how imagery and logos create meaning. Have fun drawing, painting, and printing: make art about the place that you live!

July 17 to 21
Face Time Fun with Lori Beavis

Ages 4 to 7: 9 am – 12 noon
Ages 8 to 11: 1 pm – 4 pm
$90 per week

A week of visual storytelling all about you! Learn the techniques used in a variety of materials including printmaking, collage and watercolour. Explore different kinds of portraits as a fun way to tell stories about ourselves.

July 24 to 28
Super Sculptures with Lori Beavis

Ages 7 and up: 9 am – 4 pm
$170 per week

For the love of building! Discover new methods and materials to construct environments, dioramas and sculptures. Work with paper, cardboard and recycled materials to build abstract sculptures. Experiment with surfaces, textures and depth to make work that is fun and full of possibilities. See where your imagination can go!

July 31 to Aug 4
Puppet Show with Judith Mason

Ages 7 and up: 9 am – 4 pm
$170 per week

We’ll spend the week making puppets and putting together a spectacular show! Build skills making sock puppets, and move on to marionettes, props and scenery. Create characters and bring them to life in a show for your family and friends on the final day of this camp.

Summer Art Days

Ages 4 to 7: 9 am – 12 pm
Ages 8 to 11: 1 pm – 4 pm
$20 per half day

Each day will be something different with the AGP Education Team. Make a book on Tuesday, try portraiture on Wednesday, experiment with printmaking on Thursday and paint a landscape on Friday. Sign up for one or all four days!

Super Hero Stories with Daniel Crawford

Ages 4 to 7: 9 am – 12 pm
Ages 8 to 11: 1 pm – 4 pm
$90 per week

Release your inner superhero!  Write and illustrate a book starring your own cast of characters on daring adventures. Add live action and cameras and film your own heroic deeds.

Aug 21 to 25 Animation for Teens with Daniel Crawford
Ages 11 and up: 9 am – 4 pm
$195 per week

Draw inspiration from contemporary stop-motion artists and learn about the history of animation. Students will work through the full animation process including camera set up and shooting, character and story creation, set building, filming and more. No prior animation experience is necessary.

Instructors

Lori Beavis has a PhD in Art Education from Concordia University and was recently artist-in-residence at McGill’s Department of Integrated Studies in Education. Lori is of mixed Mississauga – settler descent and a member of Hiawatha First Nation at Rice Lake, Ontario. She is an educator with over 20 years of experience and has extensive experience in visual art and dance and loves teaching children’s programs. Lori is also a curator and an emerging artist.

Daniel Crawford has a BA from Trent University and a BFA from Nova Scotia College of Art & Design University. He is a practicing artist and has taught animation, mixed media, and storytelling at NSCADU in Halifax NS, and the Latcham Gallery in Stouffville.

Judith Mason is an artist, educator and curator with a passion for creativity. Her own work includes paintings, mixed-media installations and performance. Judith has been teaching for 25 years in galleries and public schools. She is an art and drama instructor at the Canadian International School of Egypt in Cairo.

Cheri Patrick is a museum educator, art instructor and a visual and theatre artist. She has been teaching and inspiring creativity with children at galleries and schools for over 30 years. Cheri has a diploma in Early Childhood Education from Fleming College and has been a member of the AGP education team for four years.

The AGP Education Team is comprised of art instructors, gallery staff and youth volunteers who work together to make a lively, fun and safe atmosphere for learning and creating. Join the 2017 Youth Volunteer Team for ages 15 and up.
