About the artist:

Faye Jacobs is a multi-disciplinary textile artist whose work is rooted in looms. She practices mixed-media textile arts with over fifty years of experience. Whether on the multi-harness complex-weave floor loom at her home studio, the upright tapestry loom at her colleague’s Hastings studio, or the Jacquard Loom at Lang Pioneer Village Museum, Faye uses diverse tools to create two and three-dimensional artwork. Grounded in a deep knowledge of traditional weaving and dyeing, Faye innovates with both material and technique. She is a sought-after workshop leader in papermaking, natural dyes, specialized weaving techniques, felting and eco printing. She works from her Studio / Tiny house in Lakefield Ontario, both in and out of doors.

“I realize that weaving is my internal mathematical space that allows me to set things properly in place. Weaving invites both two and three-dimensional work. Whether a free-standing sculpture, handmade paper/silk or felt, wearable art or eco dyed scarf, I work to infuse the energy of mindful growth in every piece. My life is rich with ‘textile people’ who give me joy.” – Faye Jacobs
