Molly Moldovan

painting of an abstracted landscape

Weather Diary, 2019, acrylic on canvas with steel frame, 36″ x 48″

About the Artist:

“I can’t remember a time when I didn’t make art. My earliest memories are of pencil and paper, pen and ink.

Born in Montréal, as a young child I attended the école de beaux arts.  A visual artist whose primary focus is abstraction, I have been living and working in North Kawartha since graduating OCA (now OCADU) with honours (fine art drawing and painting).

I work in an intuitive, instinctive manner, completely immersed in the moment. Colour is always my starting point and arguably the most important element of my work. The resulting paintings are vibrant and emotive, mediated fragments of memory and places existing only in my imagination.

Working in acrylic, collage and mixed media on various substrates, recent work has explored such diverse themes as democracy, living with cancer, climate change, familial relationships and, always, the abstract nature of our universe.” – Molly Moldovan
