Welcome to the new AGP website!

We’re sure you’ll enjoy its fresh look and functionality.

Our new website is inspired by the success of our digital communications that continued to engage our audience through the pandemic. We were able to utilize Recovery Funding from the Ontario Arts Council and Canadian Heritage to begin development of a site that would better serve our exhibiting artists, our community, and fully reflect all the Art Gallery of Peterborough does.

One of the key goals in our Strategic Plan is “Telling our Story,” and was motivated by our experience of temporary closure in 2015. The AGP closed for a renovation, moving the Permanent Collection to fine art storage, and had staff relocate offsite to a downtown office. We remained connected to our membership and community through alternative programming and our social media. Then, through a series of videos we pulled back the curtain and shared our story, documenting and packing artworks, research and conservation and all the details which are usually behind-the-scenes at a public gallery. Little did we know this prepared us well for enduring the challenges brought to us by COVID in 2020. Yes, we pivoted and solved problems, landing on our feet as we fully reopened just last year, our audience excited to return.

In so many ways, this new website reflects our story and our passion. The site invites exploration and discovery. You’ll find a flow and a natural interconnection as you read more about an exhibition or event. I would like to thank our team who were able to respond to our practical needs while capturing so beautifully the essence of the Art Gallery of Peterborough.

It is with great pleasure that we launch this new website, a pivotal moment in our 50th Anniversary year!
