Speaking Circle on Environmental Racism

Wednesday, October 1, 2025 | 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Tusaumaqatiginniq: a gathering for truth-telling, healing, and deep listening about the lived realities of environmental racism.

Join us at Trent University for this circle on environmental racism: a gathering for truth-telling, healing, and deep listening. This event creates space for members of local Indigenous communities, including the Michi Saagiig Nations and Inuit artists of Art + Waste in Panniqtuuq who have travelled from Nunavut to share their lived experiences of colonization, environmental racism, climate change, adaptation, art, and healing.

In honour of the legacy of residential schools and the ongoing reconciliation process between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples, this circle invites settlers and academic communities to participate by listening with respect. Together, we will reflect on personal stories, acknowledge ongoing harms, and work toward a collective understanding of how environmental racism continues to impact communities today.

Location: Trent University, Nozhem: First Peoples’ Performance Space

This event is free to attend and open to the public. No registration required.
