About the artist:

“Working in this medium for over 20 years has been a wonderful journey for me. Exploring diversity in colour, texture and form keeps me forever inspired. I also draw inspiration from the natural beauty of my surroundings. Since the beginning, I have experimented with electric fired cone six glazes. More recently I have introduced horse hair finishes with a white slip surface to my practice.

Over the years, I have also enjoyed getting outside with the elements and smoke firing the ware in the ground, creating decorative one-of-a-kind pieces with organic hues on the surface. My artistic style, often described as whimsical and organic in appearance, also reveals my sense of humour. I am an artist who creates with a combination of both art and function in mind.” – Gail West
