About the Artist:
Heather Doughty has spent most of her life with a camera in her hand. At the age of 5 she was gifted her first camera – a Brownie Hawkeye –from her father, who tragically passed when she was 10. She has used the photos of their time together to keep that connection strong and, as a result, also driven to record her own life and subsequent milestones. A self-taught artist, Heather has spent many years exploring, learning, and creating. Over the years she has developed her own artistic voice and style and now leads as a photographer, using her camera to tackle stereotypes, social issues and to raise awareness through her quiet, lifestyle images.
In 2018, Heather founded the not-for-profit, “INSPIRE: The Women’s Portrait Project” to provide a safe platform to share and celebrate the stories of women, young girls, and non-binary individuals. To date over 500 inspiring individuals have been photographed.
