About the Artist:

Susan Fisher has enjoyed a lifelong career as a visual artist and art instructor with formal training in Art Education She is passionate about and dedicated to Encaustic especially the beeswax medium and paints, delighting in the unique luminosity and textures of this beautiful and ancient way of painting. Although her days are active in her studio creating new pieces, she also is committed to teaching encaustic in private or group workshops and at The Haliburton School of Design in the summer.

Currently exhibiting with the Peterborough Art Collective, Susan has exhibited in many Ontario/Canadian and international galleries. A highlight was an invitation to exhibit in an annual show in Sagamihara Japan.

“Weaving fragments of my photo images into the layers of encaustic paint lends a playful visual dynamic between the painted and photo elements. Sometimes the photo emerges and then the painted textures push forward. It’s there for you to create your own stories!” – Susan Fisher
