Christy Haldane: The Waterway Project

Inspired by Peterborough’s natural and engineered environment, Haldane has developed a series of sculptures using recycled window glass and common building materials. Her work is situated at an intersection of art, craft, and architecture. Concrete and steel echo the materials of the lift locks themselves, which represent control and containment of the environment, while glass suggests the transparency, fluidity and bluish hue of water. Haldane’s work points to the ongoing erosion that the locks face, reflecting the passage of time and subtle power of the water on these monuments of human engineering.

The gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday from 11 am - 5 pm. Admission is always free, however donations in support of AGP programming are always appreciated.
