Meryl McMaster: In-Between Worlds
June 8, 2013 - September 1, 2013
In-Between Worlds features a suite of Digital Chromogenic prints by Ottawa based artist, Meryl McMaster. The artists poetic exhibit explores, aspects of liminality, through the act of self performance photography, the mixing and transforming of bi-cultural identities (Aboriginal and Euro), of being betwixt and between histories, in which talisman and prop-like sculptures become extensions of the body. McMasters work comments on her personal heritage and her relation to larger, shared cultural histories.
Both Meryl McMaster: In-Between Worlds and Jimson Bowler: Muskrat Love (Zhusk Ode Min) support the school education program Bimaadiziwin-The Art of Living in a Good Way, exploring First Nations contemporary arts.
