Arnold Zageris: On the Labrador

Opening Reception: Friday September 14, 7 – 9 pm

Exhibition Sponsors: Adventure Canada and the Nunatsiavut Government

A series of thirty-one large colour photographs make up Arnold Zageris: On the Labrador, the result of more than two decades of excursions to the Torngat Mountains in Labrador. In On the Labrador Zageris shows us a vast geographical region with thin soil and abundant mineral resources and tenacious ecosystems. The imagery is recognizable yet surprisingly abstract.

Arnold Zageris holds a Bachelor’s of Science from Loyola College, Montreal and a Bachelor’s of Education from the University of New Brunswick. Photographing Labrador’s distinct, northerly terrain for decades, Zageris faced the challenges of travelling across a landscape twice the area of Newfoundland to capture the rarely seen locale on a grand scale.

Exhibition and catalogue is produced in partnership with the Robert McLaughlin Art Gallery in Oshawa. The 42-page colour publication contains reproductions of Zageris’ photographs and essays by Linda Jansma and Carla Garnet.

Artist talk: Wednesday October 17, 7 – 8:30 pm

Regular Hours: Wednesday to Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. Admission is by Donation.
