Mary McLoughlin: Painting Flowers

Opening Reception: Thursday July 12, 7 pm to 9 pm

In Painting Flowers, Peterborough-based artist Mary McLoughlin works in oil on canvas, painting large, close up images of flowers. The artist begins by photographing flowers, using these studies to create large colour filled meditations on the floral life cycle. The painter explains her process by stating, “When I compose the painting, I develop, combine, re-arrange, and greatly expand the scale to draw the viewer into the flowers sensuality.”

The Art Gallery of Peterborough is currently open to the public, by appointment
