Anne Hoover

Anne Hoover is a graduate from the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCADU) and she studied at the Emily Carr College of Art and Design in Vancouver. Over the past eleven years, she has been teaching life drawing while running her own Graphic Design Studio. Anne’s recent exhibitions include the Propeller Art Gallery, Toronto; OCADU Artworks 2019, Toronto; with upcoming shows at Agnes Jamieson Gallery, Minden and the Art Gallery of Bancroft.

“My focus has always been the human form, through both drawing and painting (portraiture, hands, figure). My current practice explores the balance between accuracy and recognition; depicting the human form using free mark-making to distort that edge between abstraction and realism. Portraiture (and self-portraiture) is a passion – I believe it possible to capture both spirit and mood; a sense of person and human connection.” — Anne Hoover
