Lois Shaw

still life featuring wine glass, wine bottle and cheese board

Red Wine, Please, 2020, oil on canvas, 24″ x 14″

About the artist:

Lois’s studio is located near the Warsaw Caves, in a 160 year old stone house on 55 acres of farmland surrounded by pine and cedar trees. She has a background in Technical Drafting and this carries over into her artwork.

“I like to think of my work as realism with a sense of drama. Detail and control was so much a part of my drafting career and this carries over to the setups and paintings of my still life subjects. I like to paint close-up views of a subject giving my work an intimate feel. Pears are a recurring theme, each a unique and organic form with their beauty in colour and reflections. I try to convey to the viewer the sense of awe and joy I feel in the moment where light, colour, and shadow connect.” — Lois Shaw
