About the artist:

“Painting landscapes throughout the seasons, be it the rugged wilderness, pastoral fields, or cityscapes, is my mainstay. I work both en plein air and in my studio from sketches and photo references.

I aim to capture the essence of the scene, revealing its beauty, and to express my feelings and emotions through my paintings. Bold use of colour heightens the visual impact of each painting. Loose, rapidly executed brushstrokes capture the fleeting impressions of what I see and energizes my visual language. I am currently painting exclusively on a black background, which gives me a more powerful, satisfying effect.” – Lucy Manley
