About the artist:

Victoria Wallace is a Peterborough-based mixed media artist, and arts educator. She operated a successful mural and specialty paint finish company in Toronto for over 25 years. Her work is shown in galleries in Toronto, Mississauga, Peterborough, Haliburton, Warkworth, and in festivals and exhibitions across Ontario. Victoria teaches at the Haliburton School of Art and Design, Fleming College, Humber College Assembly Hall, and LucSculpture, in Toronto.

Victoria’s extensive commissions include work for television, film, theatre, restaurants, businesses, and private collections across Canada, and internationally. Her paintings, which range from high realism to abstraction, are infused with the ‘trompe l’oeil’ influence she mastered through years of mural painting.

“In my art work, I surrealistically render nature, animals, circus-inspired characters and subject matter, distilled from my own idiosyncratic narrative; I juxtapose the feasible with the absurd. But I also like to indulge my passion for painting cityscapes and landscapes, where I live and the places I visit. Consequently, because of these two directions I take my work in, there is often a cross-pollination of fantasy and realism.” — Victoria Wallace
