About the Artist:

Eugenie graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 1965. She moved with her husband, artist Henry Fernandes to Toronto in 1974, and in 1984 the couple made their way to the Kawarthas. Her exhibitions include: Art Gallery of Peterborough, 2011 & 2019 and the Russell Gallery in 2006 & 2008. Eugenie’s work has also been used by UNICEF for cards and puzzles.

Eugenie has published 18 stories and illustrated over 100 books for children, and works from her “Earth Magic” and “One Hen” books are in the collection of the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art in Washington DC. Earth Magic was also nominated for a Governor General award for illustration.
