Eugenie Fernandes
About the artist:
“I grew up on the beach in Huntington, Long Island… and in the studio with my father, comic book illustrator Creig Flessel. In 1965, after graduating from the School of Visual Arts in NYC, I started knocking on doors with my portfolio (no computers then). Over the last fifty years, I have written twenty and illustrated over 120 picture books for children. I’ve just started on the next one. In between books, I like to paint for myself…sometimes abstract… always fun. My husband is also a painter. We moved to Toronto in 1974, and to our cottage in 1984. We have two grown children who are both artists.” – Eugenie Fernandes
